Privacy & Cookie Policy
Who we are
This website, Tax Free Life, is run by an individual, not a company, so there is no company name or number. For the purposes of UK data protection law, the owner of Tax Free Life is the "data controller" for the information described in this policy. If you have any questions, or you want to exercise your data rights, please get in touch through our contact page.
Tax Free Life is an independent information resource. We do not sell insurance, provide advice, or introduce you to advisers or providers for reward.
What information we collect
- Contact form details. If you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address and the message you send us, so we can reply.
- News alert sign-ups. If you sign up for news alerts, we store your email address so we can send you updates. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and we never share your address. We send these only because you asked us to (your consent), and you can withdraw it any time by unsubscribing.
- Analytics data. We use Google Analytics to see how the site is used, for example pages viewed and rough location, for our own visitor statistics only. We do not use it for advertising and do not share the data with Google for their own purposes. You can opt out at any time using the "Opt out of analytics" link in the footer.
- Technical data. Standard information your browser sends, such as IP address and device type, used to keep the site secure and working.
How we use your information
- To respond to enquiries you send us.
- To operate, secure and improve the website.
- To understand which content is useful, so we can write more of it.
We rely on our legitimate interest in running, securing and improving the site. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to market insurance products to you.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use:
- Essential cookies, needed for the site to work and to remember your analytics opt-out choice. These do not require consent.
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics), used only for our own visitor statistics. Under current UK rules (updated in 2026) these analytics-only cookies do not require a consent pop-up, but you can opt out at any time using the "Opt out of analytics" link in the footer.
Google Analytics is provided by Google, acting as our processor. We have turned off Google's advertising and data-sharing features. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.
Sharing your information
We only share data with service providers that help us run the site (for example, our hosting and analytics providers), and where required by law. A full list is available on request.
How long we keep it
We keep contact enquiries and analytics data for up to 5 years, then delete it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal data, or object to how we use it. To do so, please get in touch through our contact page. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
